Cameron Opens The Door For Tory Tax Rises Raising taxes is abhorrent to the Conservatives but whilr Brown's Labour party keeps trying to kid us the economy is in good shape, the Conservative, much as I hate to say it, are showing enough nous to accept we're up shit creek and heading from a major recession.

Why are traditional Republicans suddenly starting to look moderate. Could the Blair effect be setting in. As Obama lurches to the right chasing Conservatives votes, mainstream Republicans start to look liberal.

John McCain once called for a respectful campaign. But now, according to Obama's supporters the Republicans are starting to fight dirty. Is this true or just another example of Barak Obama's whining

Crooks and Liars - smear and counter smear As McCain and Obama attack each others position on Afghanistan are they aware they are both saying much the same thing - and are both completely wrong. The Afghans have never lost a war, they simply kep moving the centre of the confict to new, more hostile terrain.

I love The Guardian but unfortunately the editors do have this tendency to let Politically Correct twats comment on stuff they just do not understand.

Are Britain's Libel Laws A Threat To Democracy? asks George Monbiot. Not if you know how to play the games says Little Nicky Machiavelli, but we will return to that topic.

Tony Soprano For President

by ianrthorpe @ 2008-07-11 - 18:33:55

A long time ago Little Nicky told you that Barak Obama's association with Chicago mobster would prove his undoing.

American friends who were being sucked into the Obama hysteria told me angrily there was no substance in the allegations and if there ever had been did i not think the Republican Party would be using it?

Well no, the Republicans, no matter how much we destest their politics are smart political operators. If they could keep something like that up their sleeve until Obama was confirmed as the nominee, they would keep it up their sleeve. To fight Obama was always preferable to going head to head with Hillary Clinton but to let Obama be carried to the nomination on a tide of political correctness and middle class guilt tripping, then discredit him would damage the Democrats for decades ahead.

So take a look at this advertisement put together by the Republican Party campaign office.

Barak Obama and his bezzie the mobster Tony Rezko

And now a look at how Obama's attempts to turn the Democrats convention into a pastiche of a religious revivalist meeting are alienating traditional Democratic Party supporters.

Comment Is Free The Developed World Must Shoulder The Burden
Glib promises from G8 to cut emissions by 50% before mid century are worthless as Barak Obama's hopes, dreams and visions. So where is the plan to show how we will achieve it?

Perhaps they assume by 2049 the air will be so polluted half of us will just die, cutting emissions by the magic 50% at a stroke.

Isn't politics brlliant if you play the long game, just sit back, wait for the inevitable to happen and then claim credit.

As The Housing Crisis Deepens Is This An Answer?

by ianrthorpe @ 2008-07-09 - 16:17:47

In this article
A home run for housing
Liberal Democrats finance spokesman Vince Cable suggests a policy aimed at reminding people houses are homes to live in not investments to be bought and sold for profit would be a positive move. The idea is that as repossessions increase in number, funds that have been locked for years are released to enable Housing Associations and other social housing organisations to buy the properties from mortgage providers, enabling people who were mis-sold mortgages they could not afford to remain in their homes as tenants.

Cable is, as far as I am aware, the first promient politician to say we must rid our society ofd this obsession with the fallacy that owning property makes us rich or "middle class," and talk for reminding people that houses are not investments to be traded and there is no real stigma in renting one's home.

Could this be the first positive step towards repairing the society Thatcher trashed so deliberately and disastrously and Blair pulverised.

The Rumour That Will Not Go Away

by ianrthorpe @ 2008-06-30 - 19:57:43

Who Started the Obama is a Muslim story? It is turning into one of those rumours that just will not go away. It sticks to the Democrats candidate like a bad smell.

Technically speaking of course B.O. is a Muslim even if he was never introduced to the faith and has never shown any interest in it. Just as Jewish blood is passed down through the maternal line, Islam is passed through the paternal line so as Brak Obama Snr. was a Muslim his son is too, technically speaking. In the same way the daughter of an atheist mother whose mother was also atheist is still technically Jewish if there is a Jewish woman way back in the line somewhere.

This is why Orthodox Jewish families have such a big issue with sons "marrying out." If the daughter marries a Christian, atheist, Hindu, Muslim or whatever, her children are still Jewish and her daughter's children will still be Jewish. If the son marries a non jew, the line is severed.

Its the opposte way round in Islam.

So the nasty smell of rumour will keep following B.O. around until he confronts the issue and finds a Rabbi who supports the Democrats to help him explain the situation.

Down in the Bible Belt states of course, all the explaining in the world will not change the fact that he's black.
